Known as the Bird of Paradise, Strelitzia reginae is a large, evergreen plant that produces long-stalked leaves with orange and blue flowers that resemble an exotic bird. These stunning flowers appear during spring and summer, and provide a stunning contrast against the blue-green foliage. Plant in an area of full sun to part shade, with well drained soil. Strelitzia reginae is relatively low maintenance. Keep soils moist during the growing season, and through extended hot periods. Strelitzia reginae can grow to a height of 2 metres and a width of 1.5 metre. These roots are invasive and are known to push over reaining walls and damage pools
